Description: The cedar grove is located on 87 acres east of and adjacent to the Liberty Lake Natural Area. Property: Haynes Estate
Description: This conservation area contains 97 acres offering riparian and upland wildlife habitats with almost 1/2 mile of relatively undisturbed shorelines along the Little Spokane River. The site is timbered with native pine, fir and understory throughout with topographic benches, steep slopes, granite outcrops and informal trails. The property is located within a rapidly growing area and several roads were rough graded in anticipation of residential development.

Property: Holmberg
Description: The property contains 49.47 acres adjacent to the west side of Holmberg Park. It is located along the east-facing slopes of Five Mile Prairie and provides a portion of a possible trail system around the prairie. Property: Iller Creek
Description: The property consists of 796 acres within the wildlife corridor between the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge and the forests of the Dishman Hills Natural Area. The Iller Creek drainage begins at the south end of the property and flows down through the cool, north-facing valley along a lush riparian corridor. The area hosts 163 species of invertebrates, 86 bird species, 15 mammals and 2 amphibians. It provides White-tailed deer and Rocky Mountain elk winter range and migratory corridor as well as a nesting area for Red-tailed hawks.

Description: This property consists of 455 acres adjacent to the west side of the Liberty Lake Natural Area. The land varies in elevation from 2,350' near the northeast corner to 3,600' on the ridge. Description: This conservation area consists of 410 acres on the south bank of Long Lake and has over 1.5 miles of relatively undisturbed shoreline. The property is nearly flat except for that portion directly adjacent to Long Lake where there is a short but fairly steep embankment in areas. Vegetation on the property is primarily Ponderosa pine with Douglas fir on the hillside adjacent to the lake.

Description: This property contains 640 acres of mountainous area with canyons and ravines. It supports mature Ponderosa pine on the south-facing slopes and Douglas fir on the cooler, wetter, north-facing slopes as well as aspen groves and meadows. This area provides winter range for White-tailed deer. Also sighted on the property are elk, moose, bear, cougars, eagles, ospreys, hawks, owls, Blue Heron, and over 50 other species of birds. Description: This property consists of 628 acres located in the Rosa Butte area. The topography is a combination of low, rolling pastures surrounded by high, forested buttes. The property contains a variety of habitat types including ponds, upland pine and fir forests, wetlands, and grassy meadows. It has been identified by the Washington Department of Wildlife as an elk calving area and waterfowl migration route. It contains a five-acre permanent lake, many seasonal ponds, and has a wetland-stream corridor running north-south through its center. There are close to 200 acres of permanent and seasonal wetland on the property. A large variety of wildlife use the wetland and surrounding area.

Property: Spokane River
Description: Approximately 30 acres in two parcels between the Centennial Trail and the Spokane River, including 1/2 mile of shoreline along the south bank of the Spokane River near the Washington/Idaho state line.
The park was purchased for just under $2 million. Seven acres were purchased with approx. $500,000 from the Conservation Futures program and must be kept in a natural state. The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program provided a grant of $1 million. The rest of the purchase price came from real estate excise sales tax funds.

Property: Romine Property
Description: This 28.6-acre property serves as a vital link in the wildlife and recreation corridor between Riverside State Park and the Palisades Park. Bordering RSP on its eastern border, Romine enjoys many similar natural attributes common to the western parts of Spokane County. The area overlooks portions of the State Park as well as the Spokane River.
Wildlife, such as deer, elk, coyotes and the occasional moose, use this area to travel north to south through the protected parks. Wild turkeys can be seen frequently while pheasant and quail will use the property for breeding and nesting areas. Additionally, raptors and peregrine falcons may use the area as hunting grounds.

Driving Directions: Take Government Way past Fort George Wright, just after the entrance to Riverside State Park on your right, a power line crosses Trails Rd. This property lies underneath the power lines and climbs up the hill to the railroad tracks. Land to the south of the tracks is private.
Uses: This is a non motorized, no shooting area and all the rules of use of a city park apply to the Romine Property. |

Property: Drumheller Springs
Description: The Drumheller Springs Conservation Area is located next to the 12-acre Drumheller Springs Historical Park in west Central Spokane. The property, acting as a buffer between the park and a major arterial, maintains scenic views and natural habitat for wildlife found in the Historical Park.
The Drumheller Springs Historical Park preserves traditional Spokane Indian gathering and burial grounds. Chief Spokane Garry, the Spokanes' first schoolteacher, is believed to have built a school potentiallyon the property. The Conservation Area extends the park to protect more history of the City of Spokane as well as preserve the visual sights from the park.

Property: Antoine Peaks
Description:
On August 17, 2007 – Spokane County officials announced that they have closed on the purchase of 385 acres from Timberwood Ranches LLC on Antione Peak.
The purchase completes Phase 1 of the Antione Peak project and is the latest addition to the county’s Conservation Futures program. The acquisition occurred through the use of conservation futures and matching grant funds received from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, under the Urban Wildlife Habitat Category. The Conservation Futures land purchase price was $2,897.000.
An additional five-acre parcel was donated by Timberwood Ranches to Spokane County Parks and Recreation adjacent to the Conservation Futures acquisition. The value of the donated five-acre parcel was appraised at $45,000.
Antione Peak is a 3,375 foot mountain in the Spokane Valley between Lincoln and Forker Roads. The 385 acres are located on the north side of the mountain with views of Mt. Spokane, a five-acre pond, and several miles of existing roads and trails that will be open for non-motorized recreation (hikers, bikers, skiers, horseback riders, etc.). It is considered to be an Urban Wildlife Habitat and is home to Moose, Elk, Bear and other species. County staff will soon be working on providing access to the conservation area from Lincoln Road on the east side of the property.

Driving Directions: Drive east on Trent Ave, take a left on Campbell Rd, and left on Lincoln Rd, at a jog on Lincoln Rd there is a gate to this property. The gate is locked at this time until improvements can be made. It is possible to walk around the gate and explore this new property.
